Bangalore OMC Meet with Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas

Honourable Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, reviewed the progress of “PAHAL”(DBTL) implementation for  the State of  Karnataka, in Bangalore today.  Top officials of Oil Marketing Cos., UIDAI officials, Bank officials, Centre for E-Governance, Govt. of Karnataka and representatives of LPG distributors were present in the meeting.  The Hon’ble Minister interacted with the Dy. Commissioners of four Districts namely Kolar, Gulbarga, Mandya & Chitradurga, through video conferencing to review the progress of “PAHAL” implementation in their Districts which was also attended by  OMC District Co-ordinators, Banks officials and LDMs.

The Hon’ble Minister emphasized on importance of the scheme, being possibly the  largest Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, to its citizens, in the World  and advised all concerned to speed up the seeding process of Aadhaar/ bank account  so as to reach a healthy level of Cash Transfer Compliant (CTC) customers by end of the month all across Karnataka.  He expressed his satisfaction in the progress made by Karnataka in terms of aadhaar penetration and seeding by the distributors.  He also desired that Karnataka be a model in implementation of the Scheme which is going to be launched all across the country from Ist January 2015. He suggested to have camps at distributor shops for enrolment of LPG consumer in Aadhaar / bank as a single window option will synergise to hasten PAHAL progress.

The UIDAI, Centre for e-Governance, SLBCs assured the Minister full co-operation and all efforts will be made to make the scheme success. The Hon’ble Minister was appreciative of Govt. of Karnataka, in popularizing aadhaar registration.  It was stated by the UIDAI that 852  aadhaar enrolment centres will be operational by month end and another around 5000 enrolment centres will be put up at hobli level in due course.

The Hon’ble Minister also heard the distributors & district co-ordinators of Oil companies on their problems and experiences that they were experiencing.  It may be noted that DBTL scheme has already been launched in 2 districts of Karnataka effective 15.11.2014 and the scheme will be rolled out in the balance districts of the state w.e.f. 01.01.2015.
