Joins hands with Kidwai Hospital for Women’s Day celebration
Bangalore: March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day every year. While a majority of the women mark the occasion in a special way, there is a small section which does not have a reason to celebrate. These women are fighting their war against a chronic illness like cancer, which debilitates not just the body, but the mind, spirit and soul of the patients as well.
On March 8, Hairline International Hair and Skin Clinic and Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology joined hands for making a difference to these women.Hairline
Ms.Bani Anand, Founder Director of Hairline International,says,“Hair-loss is one of the many side-effects of chemotherapy, which results in a loss of self-esteem in cancer patients. To boost their morale, we at Hairline will be providing 100 imported wigs to them over a span of one year. We believe that this gesture would make a small difference to their quality of life, especially in their treatment and recuperation phases.â€
According to Ms.Anand, these wigs, made of treated human hair, will match, quite closely, with the general hair color of most women.
Hairline International also announced that it will provide a 50% discount on all hair enhancement procedures to women cancer patients who approach them.
Dr.Linge Gowda, Director, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, said, “Cancer systematically destroys a person, especially those patients who are in the final stages. For women patients, the trauma is more as they lose hair, which is a symbol of their feminity, during the course of their treatment, and hairloss can be emotionally devastating. These wigs will help ease the emotional turmoil they undergo.â€
The wigs were presented to Dr. Linge Gowda, Director, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and Dr.Janet Parameshwaran, Social Welfare Officer at the hospital.
