Indian Government has approved to setup a Centre of Excellence in Information Technology at the Al Azhar University in Cairo, said the Foreign Minister Salman Khursheed during a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Nabil Fahmy.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Nabil Fahmy during his visit to India held discussions with Khursheed over the situation in Syria and West Asia and many other regional as well as bilateral issues, on 4 December 2013. India was Nabil’s first picked destination among the other countries of Asia.
During a meeting, Khurshid informed Nabil of India’s approval to the setup of a Centre of Excellence in Information Technology at the Al Azhar University in Cairo. The project of establishing Centre of Excellence falls under the India-Africa Forum Summit.
The construction and infrastructure setup shall finish in a year after obtaining the confirmation from the host institution. Upon its completion the centershall train 500 students each year.
The Egyptian foreign minister also drew the developments undertaken or plannedto be made in Egypt and the related future strategies.
The two-hour-long discussions focused on sustaining the momentum in India’s and Egypt’s mutual relations. The attention was on developing and expanding the interactions leading to the broader areas of regional as well as international issues from the interest viewpoint, informed the officials of government.
