Washington, January 7: Steve McQueen believes that Hollywood doesn’t produce enough films which look at the period of slavery.
The 44-year-old British film director said that compared to movies based on other periods of history, Hollywood hasn’t made enough films addressing slavery, Contactmusic reported.
The BAFTA Award-winning director believes that somehow people do not want to look at this particular time in history.
McQueen’s historical drama ‘ 12 Years A Slave’ is based on the real life story of Solomon Northup – a free African-American who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in 1841.
