Panaji, Jan.12: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday said Congress is shameless about corruption and people have decided to get rid of them.
“People of this country have decided to rid the country of the Congress. And I am not referring to the party rather I am talking of the Congress culture which is troubling India. The Congress is shameless about corruption. If this is their attitude, what will happen to India?” he said while addressing his Vijay Sankalp rally here today.
He also said that the Congress Party wasted the 50 years since independence and added: “Rajiv Gandhi always spoke of making India ready for the 21st century but look what has happened.
India has never seen days worse than those in the past 10 years. All institutions have been systematically destroyed.”
“We will see to it that the prestige of the constitutional authorities and offices are restored. Now it is a question of a few more months. We will protect the environment and also bring transparency in mining projects. We will use mining as an engine of development,” he added.
He also lauded Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar saying, “Imagine what would have happened if Parrikar was in Delhi. People would have come to know how such an educated and powerful leader can be easy-going.”
“But what to do, the media sees only what goes on in Delhi. In India, the media doesn’t focus on Goa unless there is a mishap,” he added.
He said people are questioning the relevance of the BJP today.
“I want to tell these people that this is Atal Bihari Vajpayee ‘s party. Even after becoming the PM, he doesn’t have his own house,” he said.
The rally, which drew close to two lakh people, was also attended by BJP president Rajnath Singh and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
