New Delhi, Mar. 15: Janata Dal United (JD-U) leader Sharad Yadav, on Saturday released party’s first list of candidates for the upcoming general elections that starts from April 07.
“Today party’s first list of candidates will be handed over to you,” Yadav said in New Delhi.
Along with Yadav, JD-U leader K. C. Tyagi was also present for the interaction with mediapersons.
The first list of 15 candidates announced the name of six candidates from Bihar, two candidates from Jharkhand, five candidates from Gujarat, one candidate from Madhya Pradesh and one from Rajasthan.
When questioned about party’s chances of victory post split from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Yadav claimed that they are bound to win as it is the oldest party in the state.
“I am telling you that Janata Dal United’s performance will be more than what it was last time, this is bound to happen as Janata Dal is the oldest party here,” added Yadav.
In June 2013, JD-U leader and Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, broke party’s 17-year-old alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on grounds of differences over the appointment of Narendra Modi as the party’s prime ministerial candidate.
