Beijing: In what could make the dream of owning a house a reality for a large section of people in developing countries, a Chinese company has devised a method of 3D printing a house.

If the Shanghai-based WinSun has its way, the eco-friendly house that could be built in a matter of few hours would cost less than Rs 3 lakh (about $4,800).

With its immense printers, the company 3D prints its patented reinforced gypsum panels and cement building components.

The printers lay the materials down layer by layer, building up as they go.

The materials are so designed that they can readily accept plumbing, electrical lines, insulation and windows after the walls and roof are assembled, media reports said.
