New Delhi: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, on Wednesday, accepted his relationship with TV anchor Amrita Rai. He took on to microblogging site Twitter to accept his relationship. He tweeted, ‘I have no hesitation in accepting my relationship with Amrita Rai. She and her husband have already filed a mutual consent divorce case.’ ‘Once that is decided we would formalise it. But I do condemn encroachment in our private life.’
Meanwhile, Rai also confirmed separation from her husband, saying that she will later marry Digvijaya Singh.
She tweeted, ‘I have separated from my husband and we have filed a mutual consent divorce papers.
Digvijaya Singh’s wife passed away last year after battling cancer for several years.
Who is Amrita Rai?
Amrita Rai is a senior Anchor at Rajya Sabha Television and married to Anand Pradhan. She was earlier working with NDTV.
With a good grip and knowledge of literature and society, Rai began her career in television with BAG Films. She was also a core member of the team that started Star News. Post her stint with NDTV India, Rai, for a short while worked with CNEB, which was being directed by veteran journalist Rahul Dev.
Among the current crop of news anchors, Amrita Rai is considered a serious and knowledgeable journalist.
