Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a mega food park in Tumkur on September 24. This would be his first public function in Karnataka after he became the prime minister. Official sources said Modi might arrive in Bangalore on September 23 and stay at Raj Bhavan. The next day around 11 am, he would inaugurate the Park. However, the State government is yet to get a detailed itinerary of his visit.

Integrated Food Park Private Limited (IFPPL) at Koravahalli, is about 25 km from Tumkur town.

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries had cleared the project for which the Karnataka Industrial Development Board has sanctioned 110 acres.

The private firm had obtained permission for setting up the park in 2012.

The food park, with an investment of Rs 113 crore, has huge cold storages where fruits and vegetables can be stored. It is an entrepreneurial approach that targets to overcome systemic gaps in agri-infrastructure development so as to facilitate better food processing in the area in which it is located.
