New Delhi, Oct. 16: The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) compliments the government for initiating labour law reforms ‘Shramev Jayate’ as it will create conducive environment for growth of trade and industry as well bring transparency in social security benefits helping workers.

“The simplification of procedures and introduction of unified web portal to insure compliance of labour laws is a welcome move which will avoid harassment at the hands of inspectors. The universal PF account number to the employees satisfies their long standing demand and enables quick transfer as well viewing their account statement anywhere anytime,” said ASSOCHAM Secretary General D S Rawat.

ASSOCHAM recently submitted their study report ‘Labour Law for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth in Competitive Scenario’ with their recommendation to the government in this regard.

The measures announced today by the government are covering a part of these recommendations and hopes their remaining recommendations will also be considered favorably by the Government soon.

ASSOCHAM feels the measures announced today clearly signals that trade and industry business in India is not so difficult. The production and productivity can be improved and the measures are employability friendly, competency friendly and business environment friendly.

While the measures protect the legitimate interest of workers, it has simplified erstwhile complicated and frustrating provisions of calling same and similar information by various departments separately.

The laws are to be complied but simplification of procedures avoids harassment, said Rawat.
