AAVISHKAR – Divakars Service Trust highlights role of woman in strengthening maternal healthcare services

Bangalore: AAVISHKAR, a wing of Divakars Service Trust, Bangalore, conducted ‘Sambrahma 2014’, an event aimed at celebrating womanhood, conceptualized by women to highlight their contributions to society on October 16, 2014, in the city.

The highlight of the event was an Indian classical dance ballet by Dr.

Shoba Shashikumar and team. The ballet is dedicated to Dr. Hema Divakar, past President, Federation of Gynaecologists & Obstetricians Societies of India (FOGSI) and Medical Director, Divakars Specialty Hospital, Bangalore, for her unending efforts for the betterment of women’s healthcare in India.

The ballet used the creative expression of dance form to remind us about the power of Womanhood. “It is important for women to understand that womanhood is unlimited and is the storehouse of unimaginable power. It is only a rediscovery through an internal journey that could make every woman realise, invoke and experience this power. This classical ballet is an initiative to remind women the potential of their true power and is dedicated to all the women in the world,†said Dr.

Hema Divakar, who is also the Founder of AAVISHKAR.

“This ballet presentation was designed in the form of a dialogue between two women. A woman, who revels with positivity inspired by wise intellect and good heart, counsels another woman, who is shrunk with pessimism and feels herself a sinner and unfortunate to be born as a woman. They both celebrate the happy ending of pessimism and the new dawn of optimism,†pointed out Dr. Shoba Shashikumar.

Mrs. Ratna Govind Rao, Director, NUPURA School of Eastern Dance, Knoxville, US, was the guest of honor for the event and she was felicitated on the occasion. Dr. Hema addressed the gathering and highlighted the role of women in strengthening the healthcare services, particularly, maternal healthcare in the country. Mr. M.J. Srikant, Strategic Consultant & Founder CEO, MJS PR, delivered a special address to the gathering. The dancers were felicitated by Dr. G.V. Divakar on the occasion
