Based on the Pulsar NS200, the bike takes its design inspiration from the Pular SS 400 concept that was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Powering this fully-faired bike will be the same 199.5cc engine that is also found in the Pulsar NS200. This engine is capable of churning out a maximum power output of 23bhp and 18Nm of peak torque. Bajaj Pulsar 160 No
With the launch of bikes like Suzuki Gixxer 155, Yamaha FZ-S Version 2.0 and Honda CB Triger, the demand for naked bikes on its peak in our country. To encash this sentiment, Bajaj too is readying the Pulsar 160NS that might replace the Pulsar 150cc. While Pulsar 200 SS and 400 SS will be more premium products at higher price brackets, Bajaj Pulsar 160cc will be an affordable offering like the Pulsar 150.
The new-gen Pulsar will be an all new bike sharing its body design and engine with the 200 NS. Though the Pulsar 160NS will look largely similar to the 200NS, it will be built on a perimeter frame thus making it a thoroughly different bike in nature.
Coming to the engine, the Pulsar 160NS will feature a new 160cc, single-cylinder engine that will be based on the engine powering 200NS. That said, the engine is expected to be air-cooled in nature unlike the 200NS. Also, the gearbox will be a five-speed transmission.
Expected Price – Rs. 70,000
Updated Bajaj Platina
Bajaj Auto that enjoys fairly a great share in the premium bike segment, is now focusing on commuter segment as well that is currently led by Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycles. The company’s cheapest offering, the Platina 100, however has good demand but its sales numbers are gradually dropping due to strong demand for Hero Splendor, Hero Passion and Honda’s Dream series. Also, the Platina hasn’t received any major facelifft ever since its launch in 2006. Therefore, the company is planning to launch updated Platina in India by early 2015. The company has, in fact, started testing the updated model in India. If reports are to be believed, the company might also relaunch the more powerful version of the bike, the 125cc Platina, that the company had discontinued in 2012.
The updated Platina is likely to retain its existing design, although with new graphics, shades and body panels. The company might also tune the bike’s engine for slightly more power and fuel efficiency.
Expected Price – Rs. 36,000 – Rs. 40,000
