Aamir Khan-starrer “PK”, the year’s last big release, seems to have struck the right note with the audience as it has already garnered close to Rs 95 crore within first three days of its release.
“The collection is about Rs 95 crore in the first three days. The movie has managed to garner the best ever collection for a movie on Sunday at around Rs 37 crore,” Sujata Chanda said.
According to one website, the budget for “PK” was Rs 85 crore. The satellite rights of the movie, which also stars Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput, were sold for Rs 85 crore provided the domestic business reaches Rs 300 crore. The music rights were sold for Rs 15 crore. Reports suggest that the movie was released in over 4,800 screens worldwide.
Trade analysts believe that “PK”, released on December 19, is likely to create a new record. “‘PK’ has grossed close to Rs 95 crore within the first three days of its release, the biggest ever opening when it comes to a social film.
I expect the movie to break all records and gross close to Rs 300 crore, making it the biggest ever hit for the Hindi film industry,” trade analyst Komal Nahata said. Some of the big movies that were released this year included Shah Rukh Khan’s “Happy New Year”, Hrithik Roshan’s “Bang Bang”, Ajay Devgn’s “Singham Returns” and Salman Khan’s “Kick”.
