Outgoing Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday categorically said there is ‘no deal’ or any “discussion” going on between his National Conference(NC) and BJP over the issue of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar took to Twitter to make this assertion amid speculation that the NC may support BJP in forming a new government in Jammu and Kashmir.

“So many stories doing the rounds about a BJP NC deal.he said.

In another tweet, Omar hoped that someone from the PDP, BJP and Congress would form a govrnment quickly.

“I hope someone from the PDP/BJP/Cong steps up & forms a government in J&K quickly. Denying stupid rumours is fast becoming a full time job,” he said.

The National Conference landed 15 seats and claims the support of two more and can numerically help the BJP form the government. So can the PDP, which with 28 seats, is the largest party in the state

Meanwhile, the BJP declared on Thursday that it was determined to govern Jammu and Kashmir amid speculation that the National Conference would ally with it if the BJP didn’t insist on a Hindu chief minister for the country’s only Muslim-majority state.

BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Ram Madhav made known the party’s intentions separately in Jammu and Srinagar, with the latter saying he was in the state to explore various options on government formation after elections led to a hung 87-member assembly.

The BJP and the National Conference, the second and third largest groups in the house with 25 and 15 members, denied they were in secret talks. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which won 28 seats, was reportedly looking at both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress as possible allies.
