New Delhi: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly submitted a list of 5 demands to the BJP for forming government in Jammu and Kashmir.
The five demands are – respect for the Self-Rule proposal including softening of borders, revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from peaceful areas, strengthening of Article 370, full tenure for Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as CM and comprehensive package and relief for flood hit people of Kashmir including traders.
Disclosing the list of PDP demands, party spokesperson Dr Sameer Koul today said that the talks were going on with BJP but his party will not compromise with its principles.
“These conditions we have put forth at initial stage and if the deal materializes, more conditions will follow. It is dream of PDP to mitigate the sufferings of people and to provide them good governance,” ,” Koul said.
Koul added that senior party leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh was in touch with BJP leaders.
When asked whether an alliance will prove suicidal for the party, Koul said, “Politically, it will be not a suicide for PDP to form government with the support of BJP as we will govern the state on our own terms. We have our own ‘pro-people’ agenda and the party will not deviate from that agenda,” Koul said, adding that “it is impossible for PDP to form government with National Conference.”
On Omar Abdullah’s offer of supporting PDP in govt formation, the PDP spokesperson said “How can we betray our people and form government with National Conference whose leaders are always interested in filling their coffers rather than work in the interest of common people.”
