Hayden, Dec 31: A 2 year old boy accidentally shot and killed his 29 year-old mother in Walmart. The boy reached out to her purse when he was shopping with his mother and three other siblings at a northern Idaho Walmart. Kootenai County sheriff’s spokesman Stu Miller said that the family had come to the region to visit their family when the boy fired the concealed gun.
The woman, whose identity was not released, had a concealed weapons permit. Police said that the boy was left in a shopping cart when he reached into the victim’s purse and grabbed a small-calibre purse that shot one time.
The Sherrif’s office said that deputies who responded to Walmart found her dead. The woman’s husband was not there at the store at that time. He, however, came over after some time and all the children were taken to a relative’s place. Following this, the store closed and did not open till Wednesday morning.
There are staggering statistics pertaining to accidental fatalities involving children handling guns. For instance, a 2-year-old boy shot and killed his 11-year-old sister while they and their siblings played with a gun inside a Philadelphia home.
The gun was said to have been brought by their mother’s boyfriend. Idaho lawmakers had passed a legislation earlier this year, allowing concealed weapons on the state’s public college and university campuses, but had barred it from being brought to a public gathering involving 1,000 people, such as stadiums and concerts.
