Srinagar, Jan 10: Inspite of repeated talks the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir failed and after 16 days of the results of the assembly elections being announced, the Governor’s Rule was implemented here today. 16-days after the results of the assembly elections were out, PDP emerged as the single largest party but failed to form the government in the state.
Inspite of talks between PDP and the BJP, the government formation seemed like a distant dream following which the then chief minister Omar Abdullah resigned from his post. President Pranab Mukherjee approved of Governor’s rule in the state.
Since 1977, the Governor’s Rule has been implemented five times in the state. However the implementation of Governor’s Rule in the state now has the political parties up in arms against each other.
