The grand finale of Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week 12th edition powered by Snapdeal.com saw Original. Innovative. Feisty. Spirited Bengaluru based designer Deepika Govind works by the design philosophy of `Fashion for the EARTH’ (E=Elements, A=Art, R= Revolution, T= Technology, and H= Human Hand.)
With a keen eye on detailing and precision, each of Deepika’s handcrafted ensembles reflects her ingenuity. Her creations are akin to unique pieces of art, representing the contradictions that dwell in each of us. Striking a comfortable balance between Eastern crafting and Western construction, Deepika’s creations transcend both time and culture and thus, stand apart in being at once avant garde and classic.
By blending silks and natural fibres to create finer new age textiles, Deepika weaves together the fabric of two civilizations – the warp of the ancient and the weft of the modern. Many ‘Fabric Firsts’ have added feathers to her cap. A little known fact is that Deepika was the first to use aromatherapy on silks – a technique which so far had had been limited to knits, but now with her R & D, the silks got an eco-friendly treatment with aromas that included tea-tree oil, pine, lavender, rose and several fruity flavours.
HAMPI-this collection by Deepika is a homage to an Era which is a glorious part of the History of Karnataka for which she has used the drape based silhouettes of early civilizations. Everything in this collection is based on flowing, no structured shoulders or sleeves concepts. The highlight of this collection is the draped techniques especially in reminiscence of the sensual Indian women.
