Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane taken to hospital after stepping off flight

Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane has been admitted to hospital in America immediately after stepping off a flight.

The actor was said to be suffering severe flu like symptoms after arriving in Orlando, Florida, following the nine hour journey last night.

Paramedics met Coltrane at the gate and took him to hospital where he has been kept overnight.

The 64-year-old travelled to America’s Sunshine State to attend the second annual ‘A Celebration of Harry Potter’ convention at Universal Studios in Orlando.

Michael Gambon, who played Dumbledore, was also on the flight.

A spokesman for Coltrane, who played Rubeus Hagrid in the Potter movies, confirmed the actor fell ill during the British Airways flight from London.

Thousands of Harry Potter fans are due to descend on Universal as part of the three day event starting today.

Other stars attending including twins James and Oliver Phelps who play Fred and George Weasley as well as Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch.
