The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) has announced the opening of its annual competition for Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright fellowships.
Such exchanges have, over the years, helped bring the people of India and the United States closer together.
The Fulbright program offers opportunities in the United States that enrich fellows’ academic, research, teaching and professional capacity.
The U.S.-India bilateral Fulbright agreement has resulted in a significant increase in the number of scholarships awarded each year.
“Attending school in the U.S. greatly broadened my horizons, both personal and academic. I was introduced to many new perspectives, was given the opportunity to study new subjects, and was able to immerse myself in local culture.
“It has been a life-changing experience both professionally and personally. I have benefitted from seeing the professional ethics of the people here in the U.S., and how the dynamics within classrooms are significantly different from what I have been used to in India,” added Cherrie Lalnunziri Chhangte, a 2013 Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University.
USIEF alumni have demonstrated strong leadership in all fields, including agriculture, the arts, business, education, the environment, humanities and social sciences, public health, and science and technology.
Outstanding Indian students, academics, teachers, policy planners, administrators, and professionals are encouraged to apply.
USIEF expects to offer approximately 90 Fulbright-Nehru fellowships to Indian applicants in 2016.
