Good news for those living around the Namma Metro stretch from Magadi Road to Mysore Road stations. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is planning to soon shift five trains to this 6.4 km elevated stretch – which has been ready for more than two years – for trial run.

Before the trial run happens, the underground stretch — which connects the Magadi Road and MG Road streches — must be tested. And that’s slated for March 12.

There are six Metro stations on Magadi Road-Mysore Road stretch — Magadi Road, Hosahalli, Vijayanagara, Attiguppe, Deepanjalinagar and Mysore Road.

“If Metro operations start between Magadi and Mysore Road, it will help people in a big way especially those who want to travel to Vijayanagar and Nayandahalli areas,” said a BMRCL official. Commercial operations will start as soon as BMRCL gets clearance from the railway safety commissioner.

When asked how trains could be operated in the absence of depots, the official said, “We can park trains in stations. If there is a need to shift a train for any work, we will move it to Baiyappanahalli depot.”

UNDERGROUND STRETCH

BMRCL needs four more months to start trial run in the 4.8

km underground stretch between Chinnaswamy cricket stadium and Magadi Road as work is yet to be completed. BMRCL MD Pradeep Singh Kharola told Bangalore Mirror, “Trial run on the underground stretch will follow after completion of signaling and other pending works.”

BMRCL has failed to meet the December 2014 deadline to start trail runs on the underground stretch.
