The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to pass interim orders to lift ban on BBC documentary ‘India’s Daughter’ saying that judges get influenced by media trials. Justice B D Ahmed said, “Media used to exercise self-censorship in subjudice matters but it has thrown it to the wind.â€
He further added: “Judges are not from outer space, get subconsciously pressured by emotional media trial.â€
The documentary includes an interview conducted by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin and BBC, of Mukesh Singh, the driver of the bus in which the 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally gangraped by six men on December 16, 2012.
After government had imposed a blanket ban on screening of the film.
