Melbourne, March 18: Even as supporters of India were hoping that the men in blue will come out with flying colours against Bangladesh in the quarter-finals of the ongoing cricket World Cup, light rain a day ahead of the match also made them nervous.
Afterall, nobody wants India, who have looked unstoppable in the tournament so far, to test their luck against the rain-rules that can always prove to be tricky. [What happens if the quarter-final is abandoned or tied?] The players and supporters were also keeping a close watch on the rain-rules of the tournament, thanks to the unfriendly skies.
The Met office has predicted thunderstorms in Melbourne on Thursday, the day of the match. The teams must complete playing 40 overs (20 overs each) for the game to finish or it will go to the next day. If it is still inconclusive, then the team which has won more matches in the tournament so far will go to the semis. If it is a complete washout, then India are the favourites. But the supporters will want a win on the ground, not off it. The Indian team came for practice in the afternoon but the light shower hampered their net sessions.
The players instead played some soccer and did some catching practice before returning.
