PM Modi: Canada, Germany, France tour centred around India’s economic agenda

Prime Minster Narendra Modi on Saturday said his upcoming three-nation tour to Germany, France and Canada- – his first since taking office- -will be centred around supporting India’s economic agenda and creating jobs for the youth.

Prime Minister Modi will be travelling to the three countries from April 10 to April 16, 2015.

“My France, Germany and Canada visit is centred around supporting India’s economic agenda and creating jobs for our youth. Will discuss strengthening India- France economic co-operation and visit some high-tech industrial units outside Paris,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

“In Germany, Chancellor Merkel and I will jointly inaugurate @Hannover_Messe where India is a partner country,” he said in a series of tweets.

The Prime Minister added that he was looking forward to enhancing ties with Canada and interacting with the leaders, captains of industry and the Diaspora in Canada.

Prime Minister Modi first met his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper on the margins of the G-20 Summit in Australia in November 2014. Prime Minister Harper also visited India in November 2012 and November 2009.

This is the first bilateral visit to Canada by an Indian Prime Minister since 1973.
