President Barack Obama is a huge fan of the popular TV show ‘ The Wire’ and thinks that the HBO series is “one of the greatest television shows” ever.
In a recent chat with the creator of the critically acclaimed show, David Simon, the US President discussed drug trade and its cultural impact on Americans, E! Online reported.
Simon, who exposed the truth about cartels and their effects out of his own experience in Baltimore, said that a person loyal to street-level drug enforcement had only few resources.
The president asserted that the challenge presented on the show, which depicts a journey into the Baltimore drug scene, portraying dealers, cops, press, schoolteachers and children, was that while people spent a great expense to become more hardened criminals during prison, the taxpayers ended up spending much more on prison as compared to when these people were in school or college.
Obama added that they could get little smarter in the coming 20 years and take a path of more productive thinking on the issue, to which Simon agreed saying, “What drugs don’t destroy, the world against them will”.
