Chief national coach Pullela Gopichand praised Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth for their fantastic achievement at the India Open Super Series and said it was a long awaited moment.
“It is a fantastic achievement. We have been waiting for it since long,” Gopichand said.
“We have crowd coming in because of our players and we have great players,” he added.
Earlier on Sunday, World No. 1 shuttler Saina Nehwal lifted the singles crown of the India Open Super Series Badminton tournament.
Nehwal defeated former world champion Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon 21-16, 21-14 in the final at the Siri Fort Indoor Complex.
In the Men’s final, second ranked Srikanth is slated to meet sixth-ranked Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.
