India to Buy 36 Rafale Jets in Fly-Away Condition

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday he had asked France to supply his air force with 36 Rafale fighter jets, after years of wrangling over the deal.

PM Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande are addressing a joint statement.

– France to invest 2 Billion Euros and develop 3 smart cities in India: President Hollande

– In the field of civil nuclear energy, India and France have signed the Jaitapur nuclear plant deal.

– All of you are aware of the Rafale issue and I’ll leave it to the PM to reveal the contents of our discussion.

– France and India are working together in order to ensure stability and environment of peace.

– France supports India to become a permanent member of UN Security Council.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement:

– Very happy to be here in France, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

– France is one of India’s closest friends and most dependable partners.

– Will issue a new stamp to commemorate 50th anniversary of cooperation between these India and France.

– I have spoken to President Hollande about buying 36 Rafale jets in fly-away condition: Prime Minister Modi

– President Hollande has extended full cooperation for our ‘Make In India’ campaign in the defence sector which is not just a program but an ambition we have.

– I am positive that French companies will invest in India and vice versa.

– We are also planning to work on sustainable development in maritime resources.

– Also very happy to inform President Hollande that we are going to allow French citizens to have virtual electronic travel to India.

– Terrorism is spreading fast and present in different parts of the world. In different parts of the world we are feeling the same pain.

– Whether it is Mumbai or Paris, we face terrorism.
