South Africa golf legend Gary Player has branded 2015 Masters champion Jordan Spieth as the world’s best putter by far.
Spieth on Sunday became the youngest golfer after Tiger Woods to win his first major when he fired a two-under par closing round of 70 to finish on 18-under 270 at Augusta National , matching the 72-hole tournament record set by the 14-time Major winner in 1997.
The 21-year-old beat nearest competitors Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose by four shots.
Player, who was in attendance at the Masters, commented on the young American’s game, saying that Spieth has been the most consistent player in the world over the past two months.
The nine time Major winner said that Spieth either wins or he’s in the top five, but added that the big thing is that it’s always the best putter, and it always would be.
And Player insisted the best putter in the world these days by a mile is Spieth, adding that the young American doesn’t have the swing of a Rory McIlroy, he doesn’t have the swing of a Jason Day or a Louis Oosthuizen, but claimed that he’s the best putter in the world.
