Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for their commendable job in evacuating stranded Indian nationals from strife-torn Yemen.

“A minister of the government went there, and I salute General V K Singh for his efforts. You might have seen on social media, if someone tweets Sushmaji, she replies even if it is at 1 a.m. Could you have imagined or ever seen the Ministry of External Affairs working like that?” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing a workshop for BJP lawmakers on the various pro-poor programmes of the government.

“In Yemen, there was bombardment for 24 hours.

They were ready to kill. And every day, for two hours, we got the bombing stopped and we evacuated Indians. Who were these people in Yemen? They were all labourers and nurses,” he added.
