BJP state president Pralhad Joshi addressing the reporters on Sunday April 19, said, “The state government’s decision to supersede BBMP on the grounds of financial irregularities in the palike is illegal, undemocratic and unconstitutional.”
Joshi condemed the move of the State Government a day after the government decided to supersede the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the state government on Saturday dissolved the Council and appointed senior IAS officer T M Vijay Bhaskar as the administrator. It also appointed G Kumar Naik as the new BBMP Commissioner.
He pointed out that the matter of BBMP polls was pending before court.
Johsi also urged the JD(S) to withdraw its decision to boycott the emergency legislature session on Monday, called by the Congress government to pass a bill on the trifurcation of BBMP. He warned that if the government fails to withdraw its supersession decision, the BJP will launch an agitation against it.
On the JD(S) decision to boycott the session, he said that the BJP leaders have spoken to JD(S) state president H.D. Kumaraswamy and requested him to withdraw the boycott call. “We requested Mr Kumaraswamy to join us in this fight,†Mr Joshi said.
On the other hand, opposition BJP has decided to attend the special session on April 20 and oppose the state government’s decision to bring in a bill to trifurcate Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
After the party core committee meeting on Friday, BJP state president Pralhad Joshi said that the party will take part in the session to make known its opposition to the government’s move.
