In Chennai, the city of crowds, people throng a political or a film star’s rally in thousands, but …for a painting event Colorothon?   Chanceay ille?
Well, folks, change – and chance – is in the air. Be and see the change and grab the chance to paint your dream, your ideas or whatever, just for fun.
Sunday, June 7, World Environment Day, all roads will lead to Colorothon – Season 5, a mega painting extravaganza, at Valluvar Kottam, Chennai’s most happening place.
Who can take part in this mega painting event, which incidentally, has wowed and created a big splash earlier in Delhi and Bengaluru? It would be more apt to ask who cannot take part! Everyone’s invited – from 3 to 90 years – Including all social groups, communities, and professions  to express himself/herself on a canvas.
But why should you take notice of Colorothon 5? Well, because, several thousand people enthusiastically took part in its previous editions in Bengaluru and Delhi, and the response was so overwhelming that the organizers, Breathe Entertainment, are eyeing an entry into the Limca Book of Records and the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest ever public painting extravaganza in the world!
In other words, you as a participant have a chance to be a part of a record-making event.
Plus, 500 best paintings of the participants judged by renowned artists, will be auctioned and donated to Aruwe, for a social cause.
Further Colorothon will have something for everyone– cartoon characters, art bazaars, drum circles, live painting, stand-up comedy, magic show, and more. Incidentally, the painting event themed on Draw Your Imagination, is inspired by Aamir Khan’s award winning Taare Zameen Par.
Colorothon is a concept of Breathe Entertainment, co-founded by Kishore Joseph and Ahmed Shariff. The event is being held in support of Aruwe. Thirty renowned artists from Chennai will also join the participants and their paintings will be auctioned to raise funds for Aruwe.
Colorothon will soon be foraying into other major cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata and Guwahati. “Our vision is to see Indians from all over the country of all ages and all groups take to painting on a day which will be celebrated as Colorothon Day,†says Kishore Joseph. “We will be approaching the Tourism and Culture department seeking their support and funding for this social cause and take this event to all major cities in India.
Ahmed Shariff, Â said they are expecting about 12,000 people to take part in the event.
