Australia produced a clinical and efficient performance on Sunday to progress to the Women’s World Cup quarter-finals after edging out Brazil 1-0 in Moncton.
Following a goalless first-half, Kyah Simon scored the decisive goal from close range after goalkeeper Luciana spilled the ball in the 80th minute.
Brazil, meanwhile, failed to replicate their group stage performance after topping their pool by winning all three games.
Australia will now face the winners of Tuesday’s game between Japan and Netherlands.
