Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced that the Cabinet has approved funds amounting to Rs 50,000 crore over the five years to ensure that the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana is a success.
“Yesterday, in an important decision, the Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna was cleared by Cabinet. Every state will make a district irrigation plan for this. This Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna is critical to ensure better use of our resources. Water conservation and recycling will be an integral part of this scheme. Also, common national market will have an electronic auction. Rs 50,000 crore will be spent over 5 years on the scheme,” Jaitley said during a Cabinet briefing in the national capital.
“The Cabinet has also approved the Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015 policy,” he added.
The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana is an irrigation scheme in which the Central government has planned to provide irrigation to the entire agricultural land in the country.
