Pope Francis, who took over the responsibilities of the Catholic Church in March 2013, has said that no positions in the Catholic Church should be for life.

Giving a hint at the retirement, the 78-year-old head of the Church asserted while addressing the audience in Vatican that the only one who cannot be substituted in the Church is the Holy Spirit.

He continued that here should be a time limit to positions in the Church, which in reality are positions of service.

Pope Francis added that there were no leaders for life in the Church and this occurred in some countries where a dictatorship existed.

Francis’s predecessor Pope Benedict XVI had resigned in February 2013, becoming the first pontiff to do so in 600 years.
