Bollywood actor Salman Khan has said that Yakub Memon, the man convicted for the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai that killed 257 people, should not be hanged, rather his brother Tiger Memon who is the main accused in the case, should be sent to the gallows.
Mr Khan, 49, in a series of tweets last night, said, Get tiger hang him. Parade him not his brother.
The actor also said killing Yakub would be killing humanity.
In 2007, Yakub was found guilty of both plotting the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai and executing it. He was held guilty of distributing arms and ammunition, detonators and explosives to other accused and also of funding terror activities.
Yakub has made a fresh mercy plea after his last one was rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee in May 2014. He has also filed a fresh appeal in Supreme Court for stay on the execution, which will be heard on Monday.
Yakub, who has spent over two decades in jail, has repeatedly insisted that he was unaware of the conspiracy reportedly hatched by his brother, Tiger, and Dawood Ibrahim, who have been on the run since 1993.
