Australian golfer Jason Day maintained a two-shot lead over world number two Jordan Spieth after the third round of the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

Day carded a six-under-66 to move to 15-under, including a double bogey at 15 during an enthralling afternoon in Winconsin.

Spieth, the reigning Masters and US Open champion, produced a stunning third round of 65 to propel himself into the title contention.

Meanwhile, world number one Rory McIlroy was tied 17th after hitting a 68 that took him to six under, and former world number Tiger Woods missed the cut at four over par.
