Anticipatory bail for Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat

Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat who was accused of taking bribe from the US firm Louis Berger, was granted anticipatory bail by the Panaji sessions court on Wednesday here.

Kamat had been charged with disappearance of evidence in the Louis Berger bribery case in addition to various sections of Prevention of Corruption of Act and IPC already against him in the FIR by the Crime Branch.

The former Goa Chief Minister had accused the police of falsely implicating him in the case at the behest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.

Kamat, who had already been questioned twice by the investigators, had moved the district court for anticipatory bail fearing arrest in the case.
