The Spanish club also said that United did not open any channel of negotiation for De Gea.

United, however, said that Real controlling the documentation processes of De Gea and Keylor Navas in the last several hours of the process, and added that United were holding only their players’ documents.

United further blamed Real for returning the documents without the signatory page.

Earlier, De Gea, who joined United from Real’s city rivals Atletico Madrid in 2011, refused to sign a new deal with United due to his desire to return to Spain with Real.
