The Assam Government has sought Rs. 650 crores from the Centre as interim flood relief.
Flood waters have completely ravaged over 2,000 villages and the River Brahmaputra is said to be flowing above the danger mark in six districts of the state.
According to reports, nearly two lakh people have taken shelter in relief camps and 352 villages have been submerged in Barpeta District.
Around 50 people have died in Assam in over a month during the second wave of floods this year.
State Disaster Management Authority CEO P K Tiwari said that the detailed report on flood related damages will be submitted after assessing the situation on ground.
