Taliban militants have stormed a prison in the central Afghan city of Ghazni and freed around 350 inmates on Sunday night, officials said.
A number of security forces were killed in the clashes with the Afghan Taliban before the militants attacked the prison.
The clashes are still going on in the province and many explosions have been heard coming from inside the prison, officials said.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said gunmen and the bombers attacked the prison at 2 am and freed all prisoners.
However, the officials did not provide details on how many prisoners were in the jail or the number of casualties.
