Accusing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government of being ‘anti-poor’, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the former had turned back on promises made to the electorate during 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
“I had said some days back that this government is not for the poor, this is a suit-boot ki sarkar… They promised two lakh jobs, they promised Rs.15 Lakh in each account, they said they would control prices. Did it happen?” Gandhi said at a rally here.
“Ye apna suit saaf rakhna chahte hain, kapde saaf rakhna chahte hain. Hum dhoti ko apnana chahte hain.
Gandhi further cornered Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government over the Lalit Modi row and the Vyapam scam.
“There was PDS scam in Chhattisgarh, thousands of crores of rupees was siphoned off. In Madhya Pradesh there was Vyapam scam…Sushma Swaraj is saving Lalit Modi and despite all this Modi ji is saying ‘na khaunga na khaane dunga’,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP said that the ‘mahagathbandhan’ does not take Rahul Gandhi seriously as Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar did not come to welcome the Congress vice-president to the rally.
