Former World Champion Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso will continue to race for their team McLaren in 2016.

Confirming the news, team boss Ron Dennis said that Jenson is staying with McLaren, adding that he has a two-year contract with the team that would not be changed.

Dennis, who had an option to terminate Button’s contract before September 30, asserted that he never had any intention to exercise the option to terminate.

Earlier, Button had declared that he would quit Formula One if he doesn’t continue with his current team McLaren. It was also speculated that Button, after his retirement, would switch to the famous Le Mans-style World Endurance Championship.

Meanwhile, Alonso, who had admitted that he would remain at McLaren for next season, said that he is not sure after the Japanese Grand Prix race given their woeful engine.

Button had also made a complaint that he is not receiving any achievement at McLaren due to poor Honda engine.
