NASA is all set to reveal about a major finding that could be related to life on Mars.
The U.S. agency has called a press conference at the Washington headquarters for a briefing where it has promised to announce that it has solved a huge mystery surrounding the Red Planet.
Out of all the theories, one is that they would announce microbial life on the planet or show the evidence of flowing water.
Scientist Lujendra Ojha of the Georgia Institute of Technology came up with the theory that Mars has liquid salt water flowing through it during warmer months.
If water is discovered on Mars, it would boost chances of alien beings on the planet.
In April, NASA’s four-wheel drive Curiosity Rover, which has been on the Red Planet for three years, discovered that the soil was damp with liquid brine, which lowers the freezing point
In September, Curiosity found rocks a metre under the surface containing up to four times as much water as previously thought.
In addition, there are satellite images of round pebbles on the Red Planet indicating flowing water was once there.
There are speculations that the planet may have even once been covered with water as Curiosity showed images dark and basaltic rocks at the surface.
Science writer Kevin Kopas has said that this new evidence comes in support of speculations by many scientists that Mars was once an Earth-like planet.
NASA will unveil the major findings on Monday at its Washington headquarters.
