New Delhi, Oct.8: Amid protests by the Shiv Sena, Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali’s concert that was scheduled to be held in Pune on October 10 has also been cancelled.
Yesterday, the ghazal maestro’s Mumbai concert was cancelled following threats from the Shiv Sena. In a stern warning to the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP Government in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena said that they are not opposing Ghulam Ali but the terrorism spread by his country.
The Shiv Sena’s film wing “Chitrapat Sena” had earlier in a letter to the management of the Shanmughananda Hall said that they would have to face the anger of the party and other patriotic people if it went ahead with the programme featuring the artist from Pakistan.
The show was cancelled after Randhir Roy, the organiser of the concert, said that Ghulam Ali would not be coming for the event scheduled on October 9.
The Delhi Government has invited the Pakistani singer to perform in the national capital after his concert in Mumbai was cancelled.
Asserting that music has no boundaries, Delhi’s Culture Minister Kapil Mishra today said that he is welcome to come to Delhi.
