Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis remained on course for their eighth women’s doubles title after advancing to the semi-finals of the China Open here on Thursday.
The top seeded Indo-Swiss pair battled past German-Czech pair of Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova 7-6 (5), 6-4 in a thrilling contest that lasted one hour and 19 minutes.
Mirza and Hingis have won seven women’s doubles titles this year, including two Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon and the US Open, since joining forces in March.
