Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Monday claimed that the BJP along with the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) will win 32 to 34 seats in the first phase and around 24 seats in the second phase of the ongoing Bihar Assembly polls.

“A meeting was held last night at BJP headquarters with the supporters of NDA. We analysed the first two phase of Bihar elections and also discussed our strategies for the next three phases. The reports which we have received says that BJP along with NDA will win 32 to 34 seats in the first phase and in the second phase will win 22 to 24 seats,” Shah told a press conference here.

“Youth, women, farmers and the poor irrespective of caste and community have voted for the NDA in large numbers. Our campaign has been based on ‘Vikas’ (development),” he added.

Shah also termed the Mahagathbandhan(grand alliance) as a ‘selfish alliance’ which is only hungry for power.

“People of Bihar are well aware that the Mahagathbandhan is a selfish alliance. Nitish Kumar opposed Lalu’s rule for around 20 years by referring it a ‘jungle raj’ and now just for the hunger of power, they are together. Lalu and Nitish have constantly opposed Congress and today just to regain power they are supporting the Congress party,” Shah said.

Polling percentage of 57 and 55 per cent was recorded in the first and second phase of Bihar Assembly polls respectively.
