Pakistan’s intelligence agencies have claimed that Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) has tasked its agents to kill Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed to create chaos in the country at massive level.
The reports, Punjab’s home department said, were received on Thursday and it subsequently issued a high-alert to the security institutions over an assassination threat to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Jud chief Hafiz Saeed.
“It has been reliably learnt that RAW has planned to undertake high-value assassinations in Pakistan to create a wide-scale chaos,” read a letter issued by the Punjab’s home department.
“RAW officials are planning to portray their actions as retaliatory strikes by extremist groups like Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to avenge the recent terrorist actions,” the circular added.
The document further said: “Indian spy agency has also tasked its sources to gather all possible addresses of Hafiz Saeed in Punjab. The above-mentioned top-level actions have been planned to create anarchy in the country as a result of major acts of violence like assassination of the prime minister of Pakistan.” Consequently, the letter said, Mr Sharif and Hafiz Saeed had been conveyed the warning.
“The concerned officials had been directed to adopt precautions, besides exercising extra vigilance and taking heightened security measures at all tiers.
Since 2008 Mumbai attacks, India has been after Hafiz Saeed, which it alleged was orchestrated by him.
PM Nawaz Sharif’s special assistant Musadik Malik, however, told Geo TV that it was a conspiracy but ‘we know how to protect our Prime Minister’.
Earlier, this month, Pakistan had handed over dossiers of alleged Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan to the UN. The dossiers, Pakistani officials claimed, contained evidence, audio, video and documents, of alleged Indian involvement in the acts of terrorism in Balochistan province, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on the border with Afghanistan and Karachi.
