United States reminded Pakistan its promise to take stringent action against terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a week after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met President Barack Obama.
US State Department’s spokesperson John Kirby said that safe haven for terrorists in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) continues to exist along the border region of the country.
Reacting to Pakistan former president Pervez Musharraf’s comment that Osama bin-Laden, Hafiz Saeed, Lakhvi and others extremists were Pakistan ‘heroes’, Kirby said instead of ‘re-litigating the past’ US would like to focus on the future that can lead to better outcome against extremism.
He admitted that US has had a “complicated relationship” with Pakistan but he said that their strong relationship can deepen and strengthen fights against extremist.
