Seven bombs were recovered from a passenger train on the Katihar-Malda section of the North-East Frontier Railway, a railway official said on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel launched a search in the Malda-Katihar passenger train and seized an unclaimed

carton box containing seven crude bombs underneath a seat in a general class compartment last night, Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) Jitendra Mishra said.

The bombs were defused by the bomb disposal squad.
