Over 130 globally renowned European higher education institutions from 23 European countries will participate in a first-of-its-kind European Higher Education Virtual Fair (EHEVF) to be held for Indian & South Asian students and institutions from 26-29 November. The European Union Delegation to India is organising the event to highlight what Europe has to offer in terms of the high quality and diversity of English-taught post-graduate and PhD courses and allow students to explore educational, scholarship and career opportunities in Europe.
A dedicated website has been set up (www.study-europe.net) to provide institutional information on the higher education systems in 28 EU Member States as well as on participating universities. Students will be able to access information on research opportunities in Europe, courses available in various subjects, tuition fees, living arrangements and costs, scholarships, visas, and post-study prospects including employment and entrepreneurial opportunities from the website. They will also be able to interact with the university authorities by participating in live chats, Q&A sessions and subject-specific webinar sessions.
India has the second highest number of internationally mobile students, after China, travelling abroad for tertiary level education. On the other hand, Europe is recognized as a leading higher educational destination for international students, offering both cutting edge education, value for money and rich cultural experience. Speaking about the initiative, H.E. Mr. Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union said, “There are currently over 55,000 Indian students studying in Europe, the majority at Master’s level. The number has been growing steadily over the years, especially as a large number of leading institutions in different countries now offer English-taught courses. We hope that this initiative which will create a virtual dialogue platform between Indian students and European academic institutions will enable them to get real time information from the comfort of their homes.”

About the European Union (EU):
The EU, which consists of 28 countries, has the world’s largest economy and its third largest population, after China and India. Though richly diverse, the countries that make up the EU (its ‘Member States’) are all committed to the same basic values: peace, democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights. They have set up common institutions so that decisions on matters of joint interest can be made democratically at European level. By creating a frontier-free single market and a single currency (the euro) which has been adopted by 19 Member States, the EU has given a significant boost to trade and employment. It is also at the forefront of policies on sustainability.
EU-India relations
Over 50 years the EU and India have worked together to reduce poverty, prevent disasters, expand trade, and promote joint research in energy, health, agriculture and many other fields of mutual interest. More information at: https://eeas.europa.eu/delegations/india
